New Jersey divorce lawyers agree on little, but one thing is clear: Parties are less likely to reach a fast and fair agreement after one party files and serves divorce papers.
Too frequently, lawyers draw on the highly charged language and emotions of their clients and then cut off direct communication between the parties. With two lawyers in between them, there will be little opportunity for early negotiation and settlement.
Take a Better Path: Mediation.
In many instances, the parties can exchange information and negotiate before filing for divorce. A mediator can help you examine your true needs and interests and help you reach your goal of simplified divorce.
